Finally I got to see Bethany! I got home at around 5 and we made the best of the little time we had. Though I did take a quick nap… I was running on 5 hours of sleep. Bethany is awesome and she did some laundry while I was crashed out. Also, Abby is awesome because rather than play with mom she decided to snuggle up next to me. She missed me!
We made the most out of yetserday, dinner, movie, hangout, recap of camp. It was a lot of fun hanging out with my best friend. In a temporary lapse of sanity I decided eating an entire glob of wasabi would be fun. Before reading on you have to know the back story. About a year or so back, before I had ever had sushi, I took Bethany out for her birthday to Aloha Sushi in Folsom. This was my first sushi experience and my first experience with wasabi. Not knowing what it is and having it highly resemble avocada I tossed it in my mouth much to the horror of everyone at the table. I didn’t understand there horror and continued with my meal. Needless to say they were shocked as they explained to me “that is wasabi.” “Oh…” I said, not really knowing what that meant. I felt like God saw what I was about to do and said “You’re doing something stupid, so I’m going to numb you for a second.” I was not so lucky last night.
In the back of my mind though I always wonder what it would be like to toss a whole thing in and really feel the effects. Last night I tested and video taped it. (see results). It is not very often that I have these spontaneous fits of idiocy but sometimes it’s okay to let loose. Last night me being silly allowed me to have a funny ridiculous experience with my wife that we will look back, laugh and simultaneously face palm as we explain it to our friends. There is much to be said for growing up and maturing and I hope I am doing so, but if a fit of focused sillyness can bring people closer than I’m going to go for it to build more fun memories.
